My last shopping trip was on Valentine's Day, which feels like a million years ago. :(
But I refuse to have my spirits dampened just because I am no longer allowed to buy more useless junk that I don't need! :D Seeing as how ten months ago I gave up the luxurious possibility of raking in RM7,000/month as a lawyer and chose the RM1,500/month minimum-wage life of an Arts graduate, I may as well get used to not being able to spend money.
Someone I knew once said to me, "I think you're the kind of person who will enjoy yourself where ever you go." I shall strive to live up to that sentence!
Leila's back from Iran (with BIG news for me that I am not allowed to blog about, hahaha, so this isn't counted as blogging about it, Leila, in case you're reading this!), and my second semester at Monash is about to begin!
Life devoid of shopping must be filled up with other things, so I shall fill it up with:
1) Family - my favourite relatives are now in Puchong, which I reckon is quite easy to learn to drive to (haha, look who's talking!) and my widdle baby cousin Theo is the cutest most adorable baby in the world!
2) School - duh! Haha. This time next year, I'll have learnt about World History (ooooh!), Contemporary Film Studies, Media Studies, Newsroom Practice & Theory, Malaysian Cinema, Radio & Tv Journalism, Media Texts, and Media, Culture & Power! That sounds like a lot of stuff that I haven't got a clue about, so here's hoping that one year from now, I'll have learnt a lot. :)
3) Friends - this could easily be one of the last years that most of my besties are in the country! Everyone could be going overseas to study soon. So adventures are a must - carpe diem! And next to old friends, are new friends! I love making new friends as much as I love hanging out with old friends! :)
4) And just like last year, I have a list of places that I hope to go to this year (the year has already begun, so the places I've visited will be stricken off):
Big Bookshop WarehouseWhy Pay MoreCats WhiskersThe rest of "Bangsar"- Sungei Wang Plaza (this must be a regular place, but shopping is compulsory, haha!)
- Curve Flea Market (shopping compulsory here too, so maybe only later on!)
- 1-Utama (for food more than shopping)
- Ho Qing Yun - going there with a new friend! Whee~
- Pasar malam - must bring Leila!
- Times Square - maxi dresses for RM37, really, Junie? *must check out this place after Ho Qing Yun*
- IRAN - I wonder if I will ever get to go there! Here's hoping...
- Korea - bring on the winter clothing! I like how everyone looks fat in winter clothing. :D
- Another country I haven't been to before (besides Iran)
- SPCA Weekend Bazaar
5) And a list of things I hope to do!
- Not summer school (haha! Never again!)
- Work for a short period in a non-academic job
- Intern somewhere different!
- Volunteer at ARROW
- Volunteer somewhere else too!
- Lose weight!! :( How is it possible that I love clothes and food at the same time? I'm becoming a walking contradiction!
- Incorporate the spiritual/yoga/meditation kinda thing into my life! :D It sounds like fun!
- Celebrate all the festivals - Christmas, New Year's, Chinese New Year!
- Go to one of those places where people go for Merdeka celebrations. Dataran Merdeka, anyone? :D
- Play Taboo with Denise. She has a phobia which she needs to overcome, and I just want to play it! Haha!
- Overcome ONE phobia. Cockroaches, heights, crocodiles, law school? Hahaha I think I'll pick heights.
- Ride a rollercoaster - this was one of the things I wanted to do in 2008, but I didn't do it! :(
- Go to the Planetarium - because we didn't get to see the telescope the last time!
- Visit Pusat Sains Negara
- Go to Muzium Negara again and take the full guided tour from beginning to end! And this time I must call first, to make sure they didn't close half the museum like last time!
- Turn Your Shopping Kaki into something I can be really proud of! :)
- Go to Malacca on a road trip! :D
- Go to PENANG on a road trip! 10 years has grown between me and Gurney Drive's char koay teow!
My attempts to do everything on those lists shall begin when semester begins! :)
And for now, while I struggle to do as much of my summer job as I can, there are two bazaars on Saturday that I hope to go to! :) Not to shop, unfortunately, but to take photos. :D More updates later!
Have a good week, you! ;)
