I see fairy dust.

I went for Lasik yesterday at OPTIMAX Eye Specialist Centre in TTDI. I guess the fact that I can blog the very next day after corrective eye surgery is testament to how awesome the procedure is! :D

Of course, my eyes aren't completely healed yet - so everything is still kinda coated in fairy dust. The outlines of people and objects are shimmering, kinda like what vampires look like in the Twilight saga. :P Vision is still slightly blurry, but it's basically 20/20 already. :D It feels so strange, because I haven't had 20/20 vision since I was 8 years old.

For now, I have to wear sunglasses in the daytime and hard-shell eye protectors when I sleep. I can't go swimming or to the spa or sauna. I can't rub my eyes or get anything in them. I have to avoid dusty or smoky places like clubs, bars, and construction sites. I have to put eye drops every hour or so, and antibiotic eye drops four times a day. And I have to go for scheduled follow-up eye checkups at OPTIMAX.

The surgery was nervewracking, but not unbearably painful. I think the scariest part is just the 10 seconds that you have to focus on the blinking green light, because your eye is being lasered. And it feels like the 10 longest seconds you've ever had, because it's so easy for our eyes to bounce all over the place instead of just at the green light. And when it's over, the doctor says, "Okay, next eye."

The whole surgery takes just about 15 minutes. It's the waiting around and pre-surgery checkups that take hours. So I was at OPTIMAX from 11am until 5pm yesterday! But it felt a lot shorter because I was so nervous.

But the best part is that I don't have to wear glasses or contact lenses anymore. Well, I don't mind so much about the contacts. It was really the glasses that I disliked. :P

Goodbye, nerdy glasses! XD
Adieu, looking like I'm at home!
Farewell, bespectalisation!
And I guess I'll never forget what Alison said about my doing Lasik: "Ur gonna hav 20/20 vision.. like sailormoon!"
Hello, waking up with clear eyesight for the first time!
No more glasses blocking my eyes from seeing the world clearly. No more contact lenses to put on or take off in the morning/at night.
Although, I won't be giving up my lens-less bling geek glasses :P

Is it terribly expensive, if you don't mind me asking?

p/s: I was your silent reader, up until now, that is. :p

Hi Dinie! :D Hehe nice to meet you!

There are many different types of LASIK suited to different eye conditions, but the one I did was "All laser lasik" or "Epi Lasik", which came up to about RM7000 for both eyes :) Hehe it's not exactly cheap, but I think it's really worth it ^.^

There are more affordable options though, just that this is the best one. Quickest recovery, less strong laser, stuff like that :)

But I recommend OPTIMAX in TTDI because Dr Stephen is the best in this field :) My mum did a different lasik procedure with him too. And a couple of my friends did the same one as me too :D
