nineteen going on twenty

Hey, you! :]

This is one of those rare years when I decided not to celebrate my birthday proper (e.g. like throwing a party), and yet, this was one of the simplest, i.e. best birthdays ever! :D I wish my dad were home though :( But I got his present :D :D :D

Thank you to everyone who was part of making my birthday so wonderful: my family and my friends!! :]

I'd like to take this cyber-opportunity to give all of those people special mentions (in chronological order as best I can): Leila, William Kemp, Faan Jin & Cheryl & Rachel, Joanne, Soo Tian, Ganesha, Sze Jia, Denise, Mummy & Daddy, Michelle Koh, Sara Ong, Vanessa, An Nie, Lee Ting, Su Lynn, Winnie, Mei Chieng, Carmen, Wei June, Tse Mun, Yi Ping, Kathryn, Shaun Wong, Carrie, Grandpa, Sara Liyana, Uncle Astley & Sylvia, Shern Ren, Eric, Yi Tung, Matthew, Keith Leong, Ruth Tan, Lynette, Rosie Carruthers, Katie Reynolds, Ee Fei, Jackie Oh, Grace, Kang Yun, Wan Lin, Sin Yee, Jonathan James Tan, Dhika, Wai Yee, Wen Tye, Ever Ng, Suh Ming, Jacyn, Suzanne, Pei Lee, and Edmund Loh! :]

THANK YOU for your presents and/or birthday wishes!! :]

I love presents. I've been brought up to never ask for them, but seriously, you should see how happy I am when I get them! :D I always have an expression on my face that says "CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY". :]

Gifts, cards & flowers above credited to:
An Nie, Carmen, Faan Jin, Cheryl, Rachel, Sara Ong, William, Winnie
(presents from parents and grandfather not included in pic above :])
And now, for photos! All right, haha, I haven't got more than a small handful of photos (the disadvantage of not celebrating, haha) but I'll set you the scene for the photos I do have:

On Thursday, my best friends in uni surprised me with a massive plastic bag with cheshire-cat-grins on their faces. I've never received a present that smelled so GOOD before! Hahaha NO it wasn't pastry, it was due to the fragrant wrapping paper.
I loved the card (the messages from them were so funny!) and book thong they gave me, and love how good the actual present smells - soaps from Yves Rocher (liquid and bar) with a reindeer soft toy (the perks of having a birthday round Christmas-time, eh!) and a supercool departmental store "chequebook". :D

Sweet little An Nie came over at half past eight this morning to hand-deliver presents! Hahah! She's my little Santa Claus! <3

Carmeny! I haven't seen her for what seems like forever! I missed this girl so much! :] It was fantastic to see her again today.
Plus she brought me a little something ;P ;P

Then we tried unsuccessfully to walk off the millions of Nando's calories by window-shopping and clothes-stretching, whoops, I mean, clothes-trying. :P Don't ask me why I haven't posted my own photo up, I looked like a one-winged bat in the mysterious top-thingy Carmen picked out for me. :]
Don't they look lovely? :) I picked out Carmen's dress and Carmen picked out An's.
Hahaha only joking about the bridesmaids thing! :P Although, really, when I get married, those two lovely ladies pictured above are definitely going to be some of my bridesmaids! :] The others would be Tse Mun, Vanessa, Denise, and the x number of other girlfriends I may induct into my 'super-inner circle' over time. :]
Okay okay, that's planning too far ahead -- yes, I know, I've only just turned nineteen! Hahaha - although, from now on, I'm nineteen going on twenty. Woooh. Twenty is a big number.
Other surprises in store for the day were:
(1) William's surprise flower delivery to my doorstep! I was REALLY surprised!! Hahaha it was just so cool! :] Thank youu!
(2) Shern Ren calling from Aussieland to wish moi Happy birthday! :]
Okayyyyy now I have to go and tear my hair out over my Land Law written work (due on the 6th of December, shooooooooooot ... I haven't even started yet .... and why?? Because I'm still reading on the topic, it's horrendously IMPOSSIBLE to do without studying the topic first (also according to my lecturer)!) ... as for you, dear reader, patiently await entries on more (albeit belated) birthday celebrations coming up throughout December (my own birthday and my friends'! Don't forget, An's b'day and Carmen's bday are BOTH at the end of December!!). :]
xoxo, the nineteen-year-old.

Statistic shows that the more birthdays you celebrate the older you get.

Happy belated birthday. Thought you should know that most people born in November through December are usually blessed with brilliant minds. :-)
