"See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunrise on a tropic isle ...
Just remember, darling, all the while
You belong to me ..."
Ah, I am such an old soul! I tell myself I listen to all sorts of music, but at the end of the day, if I need to just put on a tune or pick one to belt out in the shower (yup, guilty of bathroom serenades), I'd more often than not, pick a song from The Era of My Parents.
Is it the slowness and fulness of the lyrics? Maybe it's my sheer inability to sing fast songs or keep up with fast tunes. But the calm, rolling waves of Patsy Cline, or ABBA, or even Josh Groban (who is from this century, by the way) - are like ... melted butter on scented toast.
You can draw in a deep breath, and just enjoy the song. Let it fill in the space of your lungs as you breathe, spreading the beauty of it through your entire being ... Perhaps music is like a religion, strictly speaking in a secular way. That means non-religious, right? I'm a living paradox, I know.
There's been an outbreak of haze where I am. Where I go to school, more than where I live. Which makes singing that much more difficult!
But that doesn't stop Tom Jones' "I, Who Have Nothing" playing in my head, along with the piano chords:
"I, I who have nothing, I who have no one, Adore you, and want you so
I'm just a no one, With nothing to give you but Oh, I Love You ..."
School's been interesting, by the way. Other than the killer projects, of course. But it's been stressful but interesting. We're learning International Criminal Law now in International Law, and it's such a new, interesting thing that the textbooks don't even have stuff on the area yet. Perfect. :]Oh - and I realised it's a matter of perception. Anything can be interesting if you tell yourself it's interesting, and everything will look better if you just refuse to be anything other than positive and optimistic. Call me a dreamer, call me a Polyanna, but hey - how you see the world is the thing that makes you smile from the inside! :)
What is your dream job? Have you ever thought about that? I know most people would answer "doctor" or "lawyer" or something along those standard, professional lines ... but really now, look deep inside - what really is your dream job?
Mine is to be a television newsreader. Did you know that? Only my family and my best friends know that. But now, you know that, too. Ah, one can always dream! :D
To be able to go on Bloomberg, or BBC, CNBC, CNN - and read the news ... wow ... what an honour, what a career ... I feel like I've been practising for years - every sentence I say, every nod, every gesture, every curve of the lips, every expression, every slant of the eye - I feel like it's all been to ultimately become a news anchor. And this law degree - this legal education, it's a wonderful stepping stone, isn't it? :]

Hey girl!
Whassup!
You make me feel beauty when you string all those words together to form your thoughts on paper! I feel exactly what u feel when you wrote them. I don't share your taste exactly the same on music, but u make me feel almost the same way as u.
This is why the pen is mightier than the sword, and words immortal.
And why the sudden insight into 'positivism' and 'interest'?
Haha. I agree with you every bit of the way on that.
But you've never said this before.
OMG. I must be the worst friend ever. I didn't know you wanted to become a newsreader!! hahaha
now i know, we can get married. :) xxx
