"Happiness is your dentist telling you it won't hurt and then having him catch his hand in the drill." -Johnny Carson

A trip to The Dentist was due. O_O

Even though my family dentist is as cheerful and friendly as a Chinese version of Santa Claus, nearly 20 years of dentist-despising jokes later, I can't help associating the word "dentist" with the phrase "the horror, the horror!".

So anyway. I went to Pudu this morning to get my routine teeth-check and cleaning - little did I know that the Gods of Pearly Whites had 2 surprises in store for me:

1) One wisdom tooth is growing in the back of my upper row of teeth! o_O Please, please, please don't make me have to pull it out! I thought those ordeals were over after all my baby teeth were gone.

2) Because my front teeth in the lower row are as crooked as third world politicians, all the gross stuff from last week's meals may get trapped there - and then all my teeth might FALL OUT or something - so I now have to floss them every day! >.< Brushing my teeth 3 times a day is no longer enough. Hahahaha. I learnt how to floss today... it was as hard as learning how to cycle, and it hurts like cowdung... I don't like it, but I have to do it - otherwise, according to The Dentist, I'll have to go back there next month, he'll JAB something for my teeth and clean it again. T.T So I will floss.

On other news, someone whose main concern right now is celebrating post-2nd-year-medical-exams (not flossing):

And to follow-up on my Inspiring Miracle Necklace (c/f International Love Pendant from a couple of blog entries ago), Lucy Averill (owner of http://www.eclecticeccentricity.co.uk/) has posted it to yours truly! :D She says I'll need to sign it when it gets delivered - now I feel like staying home all day waiting for the mailman to arrive. >.<
Next office day at ARROW (Asian-Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women) is on Tuesday! I'm currently betting with myself on how fast I can finish the spreadsheets and how far ahead of the deadlines I can do it. Haha, can't blame a girl for trying to make it interesting, because data entry is really starting to turn grey. I stayed up until 4a.m. last night copying and pasting information for the Donors & Funders of ARROW - but hallelujah! Because I finished it. :D Now I just have 2 categories to work on, across 6 spreadsheets: Government ministries/agencies and Universities.
But to think, how wonderful it would be when the happy little interns have finished work on the database! :) We would be directly playing a part in enabling ARROW's crucial information and research to reach all the right people, greasing the Wheels of Change!
Hahaha. And there's always the ARROW Housewarming Party to look forward to on December 5th! :D The new place is so lovely, all of you should volunteer there in your spare time! Hehe. It's not about the money (of which there is none, not as an intern, anyway) but about what you're doing for The Community. :)
Championing women's rights isn't about having extremist feminist ideals, it's about acknowledging that whether we are men or women, we are people. Non-profit, non-governmental organisations like ARROW work to advance awareness on issues like women's health and reproductive rights - for example, being pro-choice does not mean being anti-life.
Just something to think about. :)
