Deadline extensions have been generously dished out at uni (everyone's in a holiday mood, including lecturers?), and the movie that was screened in Contemporary Film Studies today was too cool (Collateral - makes me kinda appreciate Tom Cruise), so I decided to encapsulate this moment by updating this beloved blog of mine!
And that, the 5 people who actually read this blog, was a 50-word sentence.
See how easily full of crap I can be. :D Why it's difficult for me to vomit out 2000 words for essays, I don't know.
Ok, time for some fun facts!
1) I worship Serena Van Der Woodsen.
Yes, she's a fictional character. But I pseudo-worship Blake Lively (the actress who plays Serena) as well. So. Yeah. Do not, under any circumstances, diss Miss Van Der Woodsen in my vicinity! If Marilyn Monroe was the icon of the 20th century, Serena Van Der Woodsen is the icon of my 21st century.
2) The only television series that I seem to watch these days are American Idol and Gossip Girl.
It is argued that the new era of TV programs represent the dumbing down of the television audience - but really, so what? Personally, I don't think it's criminal to enjoy E! either. All the above are fun and lighthearted - they make people laugh, cry, be transported to other worlds - far removed from the gloom, doom and economic blunder that our lives revolve around today. The "cultured" and elitist can mock GG and AI all they want, but there's a reason why these shows are that much more popular than the History Channel.
3) You Don't Know Jack is my favourite computer game.
I want the latest version. :( I only play the 1990-something one over and over. I like Buzz.
4) I'm going to my first fashion show next Friday!
So excited, despite the fact that I have no idea what to wear, what or where Urban Attic is, what Capsquare is like, and what I'm expected to do there (having been invited as a fashion reviewer). But anyways, Shaz, Nana and I are going together! :D I'll just bring my camera and maybe blog about it a bit later on Your Shopping Kaki. :) And the little lady who invited me said my drinks are on her! I don't know what "drinks" mean (am I allowed to bring my own water in?) - buuuuut I hope that the person who's driving us (*ahem* I know you're reading this! *ahem*) doesn't pull a DnD. :D Otherwise, we're sleeping over in Capsquare! :P
By the way, word on the street (by street, I mean the lecture theatres of Monash University) is that Slumdog Millionaire was a ripoff of an earlier (Brazilian) movie called "City of God". I'm discussing City of God for my current film studies assignment - and I really recommend watching the movie! :) And then you can decide for yourself if Slumdog was indeed a rip-off of City of God (Cidade de Deus).
Personally? I don't think so.
