The angpow rite of passage.

"These are all the angpows I received this year," I said to Willi this morning.
"What's an angpow?"
"A red packet that older people give to younger people. With money inside. Symbol of good fortune. It's a big part of Chinese New Year. And at store openings and weddings."
"Nice," he said.
"After I open them, I usually use them to make photo frame decorations," I went on, unprompted. "And my mum sometimes uses them to make paper fish decorations."
"I want an angpow," he said. And I laughed.
