Exams and tears always go hand-in-hand, but not necessarily in a cause-and-effect relationship. :) Watch the UK Channel 4 documentary "Katie Piper: My Beautiful Face" on YouTube and you'll know exactly what I mean!
I was reading the news last night - for some reason "reading the news" has become my strange new way of releasing stress, something that would never have been the case one year ago, LOL - and came across the story of the Form 5 girl whose father poured acid on her and her mother, killing the mother and blinding/scarring the Form 5 girl.
And from there, I read about Katie Piper for the first time - the 24-year-old (now 25) blonde beauty from UK, with a bright future as a model and TV presenter, who met a guy through Facebook and dated him ... 2 weeks later he rapes her and then when she doesn't want to have anything to do with him anymore, he gets a friend to throw acid on her face. :( Her career is basically ruined, since her rice bowl depended on her beauty and her face, and now she's rebuilding her face and her life. "My Beautiful Face" is a seriously touching documentary, not only because of how brave and charismatic Katie is, but because of how caring and supportive her parents are throughout this whole ordeal.
Watch it. It'll change the way you look at life forever! A 6-part documentary that lasts less than an hour long altogether. *CLICK HERE*
Also wanted to note here, how people really change stories as they re-tell it! Re the Form 5 girl's story, I read all sorts of versions from her father playing a prank on her mum, to the girl bravely throwing herself in front of her mum to shielf her from the acid, to how the parents were always fighting over the girl's education (dad wanted her to study and stop going out so much, mum wanted her to help her in the noodle stall), to how the mum was a gambler and owed a lot of debts and the dad was really angry about that ... and I honestly don't know what the real story is anymore.
And re Katie Piper's story, there were all sorts of things people just added in - like someone said a Black Muslim Guy was the guy Katie dated, whereas in truth he's just a black guy and nobody ever said he's Muslim. Lol. Where did the "Muslim" come from?!
